Bergeron highway bill Submitted by admin'! on Wed, 05/13/2015 - 12:00am Just over five years after Maplewood community lost Sgt. Joseph Bergeron, a veteran officer on the Maplewood Police Department for 26 years —the Minnesota Senate has voted to name a section of Highway 36 in his honor. Sgt. Bergeron was shot and killed on May 1, 2010 while responding to reports of a carjacking. Sen. Chuck Wiger (DFL -Maplewood) chief authored the bill to assign the section of Highway 36 that resides within Maplewood city limits to be called Sergeant Joseph Bergeron Memorial Highway. That bill was passed by the Senate on Friday. Sen. Susan Kent (DFL -Woodbury) is a co-author of the bill in the Senate. Wger's house counterpart Rep. Leon Lillie (DFL - North St. Paul) is chief author in the House. http://www. bul I eti n-news.com/articles/2015/05/13/senate-passes-sgt-bergeron-highway-bi I I 1/1
