Exploring the fur trade era
A special program, Fur Trade Heritage,will be presented Saturday,Jan.30,from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.at the Maplewood Nature
Center,2659 E.Seventh St.
This event is best for adults and kids ages 6 and up.Attendees will assume the persona of a voyageur from this historical era
and examine historical replicas of fur trade items.
They will make a spark from flint and steel, drill a hole with a pump drill. Kids can try on a capote and moustache and
practice their French accent.
Small Scout groups are welcome. Snowshoe rental available afterward. The cost is$5 per family, prepay by Jan. 28.
