MINUTES MAPLEWOOD PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 7:OOp.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 Council Chambers, City Hall A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was held in the City Hall Council Chambers and called to order by Chair Cockriel at 7:OOp.m. Commissioners Commissioner Roy Adams Absent Commissioner Craig Brannon Present Chair Ron Cockriel Present Commissioner RJ Erhardt Present Commissioner Terri Mallet Present Commissioner Kim Schmidt Present Commissioner Nora Slawik Present Commissioner Mike Wilde Present Commissioner Matt Prom Present Staff Parks Manager, Jim Taylor Present 3. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Parks Manager, Jim Taylor requested to add the Swearing in of New Commissioners to the agenda. Commissioner: Brannon moved to approve the agenda as amended. Seconded by Commissioner Erhardt Ayes — All The motion passed. 4. SWEARING IN OF NEW COMMISSIONERS Parks Manager, Jim Taylor, read Ms. Nora Slawik the formal Oath of Office to make her an official commissioner of the Parks and Recreation Commission. S. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. April 17, 2013 3 Commissioner Schmidt requested to list the commission members that were selected to be part of the disc golf subcommittee under agenda item 7B. Commissioner Schmidt moved to approve the April 17, 2013 minutes as amended. Seconded by Commissioner Brannon Ayes - All The motion passed. 6. Visitor Presentations a. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. AGENDA REPORT TO: Parks and Recreation Commission FROM: Jim Taylor, Parks Manager SUBJECT: Park System Plan Task Force Meeting Agenda DATE: June 13, 2013 INTRODUCTION On Wednesday, June 26 staff will hold our third Maplewood Parks System Plan Task force meeting. This meeting will be a continuation of Demographics, Parks Classifications, Park Inventory, Trails, and Benchmarks /Trends and the introduction of the Natural Resources section of the comprehensive plan. In addition to the presentation staff will be soliciting input on a variety of subjects as it pertains to our Parks System. DISCUSSION The Parks Commission has two representatives on Task Force (Commissioner Cockreil and Commissioner Adams) Staff will present a draft agenda at the meeting to get Commissioner input on the topics. Also attached you will find the entire presentation from last months meeting for your review and discussion. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends discussing the May meeting presentation and the June agenda.
