February 20, 2013 Commissioner Roman moved to approve the February 20, 2013 minutes. Seconded by Commissioner Erhardt uralist, updated the commission on the Maplewood Nature tthe Nature Center is responsible for and presented various nature activities offered. Commissioner Service Areas Jim Taylor, Parks Manager, presented a map representing the different neighborhoods the commissioners represent based on where they reside. Jim Taylor, Parks Manager, discussed the Commissioner Service Areas and answered questions of the commission. Commissioner Brannon moved to not pursue Commissioner Service Areas and continue a holistic parks system approach where a commissioner is free to pursue any interest or concern that they may have and then bring that issue back to the Parks Commission as a whole. Seconded by Commissioner Schmidt The motion passed. This will give the commission the opportunity to reflect on the 2013 Goals each meeting. e. Friends of Ramsey County Parks Chair Cockriel would like to invite the Friends of Ramsey County Parks to a Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. He would like the Friends of Ramsey County Parks to present information as to what they do as a non - profit organization and how they support the parks throughout Ramsey County. f. Parks System Minutes and Agenda Chair Cockriel requested that the Parks System Plan Update include their agenda and draft minutes. This would give the commission the opportunity to come up with any feedback (discussion or information) that could be given back to staff to help create a positive relationship with the Parks System Plan Task Force. g. Open Space Update Chair Cockriel requested the open space PowerPoint presentation be available to the commission. This would enable the commission to have background information readily available. h. Ayes — All Wednesday, March 20, 2013 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes AGENDA REPORT TO: Parks and Recreation Commission FROM: Jim Taylor, Parks Manager SUBJECT: Maplewood Park System Plan Task Force DATE: April 11, 2013 INTRODUCTION On Monday, April 18 the City Council interviewed six of the nine candidates for the Parks System Plan Task Force. Staff's recommendation was to appoint all applicants and the City Council agreed. The six candidates appointed are: Scott Schaller Pete Boulay Jason Lamers Mark Nichols Alysyn Morris Marilyn Anderson On Monday, April 29 the the following candidates will be interview: Don Christianson Nikki Villavicencio Margaret Behrens I Q 1-10111*11 IQ 0 The first meeting of the Task Force will be scheduled for Wednesday, April 24 at 4:OOpm at the MCC conference room D. RECOMMENDATION No recommendations are needed at this time. AGENDA REPORT TO: Parks and Recreation Commission FROM: Jim Taylor, Parks Manager SUBJECT: Park System Plan Task Force Meeting Agenda DATE: April 11, 2013 INTRODUCTION On Wednesday, April 24 staff will hold our first Maplewood Parks System Plan Task force meeting. This meeting will be the kick of to the Parks System Plan process. DISCUSSION The Parks Commission has two representatives on Task Force (Commissioner Cockreil and Commissioner Adams) Staff will present a draft agenda at the meeting to get Commissioner input on the topics. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends discussing the draft agenda to give input to the Commission representatives for the Task Force Meeting.
