Chair Roman indicated that there was a quorum and called the meeting to order at 7:20PM.

Jim Taylor, Parks Manager, opened up a discussion for the Commissioners and gave the

7. NEW BUSINESS
a. North St. Paul Community Center
Commissioner Sonnek updated the Commission about the closing of the North St. Paul
Community Center.
8. STAFF PRESENTATIONS
a. Arbor Day at Lion's Park
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resources Coordinator, updated the Commission on Arbor Day at
Lion's Park.

9. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Commissioner Erhardt asked who the contact person is for possible fundraising ideas for Fish
Creek.
Commissioner Erhardt stated that she liked Commissioner Sonnek's suggestion about having
rock bands at the Maplewood Community Center as a place for adolescence to go and listen to
these bands as well.
Commissioner Sonnek commented on having a Park Steward in the neighborhood. This way
there is a contact person in the neighborhood for park issues and can report them back to the
city when there is an issue.
Chair Roman asked about the participation at the Spring Clean -up and how much garbage was
collected.
Jim Taylor, Parks manager, commented that North St. Paul had one truckload of garbage and
that Maplewood had three truckloads of garbage. They had around two hundred participants
and hosted lunch for about one hundred people at Casey Lake Park.
Chair Roman wanted to thank everyone who participated in the Spring Clean -Up event. He also
wanted to thank the Darticioants at the Arbor Dav Event at Lion's Park.

SUBJECT: Parks Commission Vacancy

City staff has posted for the vacant Park Commissioner seat twice. Both times the City
received one applicant and the candidate withdrew both times.
DISCUSSION
The vacant Parks Commission seat will be posted again soon. We will continue to
accept applications as they come in and appoint accordingly. Staff is asking all
Commissioners if they know of any potential candidates to encourage them to apply.
RECOMMENDATION
No action is required.
