Police Civil Services Commission b. Business & Economic Development Commission c. Planning Commission DATE: November 15, 2010 INTRODUCTIONISUMMARY The City Council will be conducting interviews of candidates for the Planning Commission, Business & Economic Development Commission (BEDC) and the Police Civil Service Commission (PCSC). There are a total of seven (7) openings; 3 on the BEDC, 3 on the Planning Commission and 1 on the PCSC. The openings on the BEDC were created by current commissioners resigning; therefore the individuals assigned to fill these vacancies will be assigned the remaining terms. The openings on the Planning Commission were created by terms expiring at the end of the year. The opening on the PCSC was created by a commissioner resigning, however, the individual appointed should be assigned a full term as the open term ends on December 31, 2010. There is not a sufficient amount of time to interview all of the applicants during the time allotted during the work session on November 22. Interviews will be continued during a special work session on the November 29 The applicants interviewed on November 22 have indicated interest in multiple commissions. These candidates will be given a 20 minute interview session to be interviewed for both positions the candidate is interested in. Questions for the interviews will be provided to the Council under separate cover. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council conduct interviews of the following in consideration of appointment an open position on a board or commission: 5:15 Question Selection 5:25 Diana Longrie (PCSC & BEDC) 5:45 Christine Novak (PCSC & BEDC) 6:05 Mary Jo Clauson (BEDC & Planning Commission) Attachment: 1.
