SUBJECT: Introduction to the Delegation Agreement with the Minnesota Department
of Health

INTRODUCTION
The City of Maplewood has approximately 125 food and beverage establishments, 21 public
swimming pools, 4 lodging facilities, and 2 non - community water (well) licenses. Currently the
City of Maplewood licenses and regulates these facilities /establishments under formal
agreements with the Minnesota Department of Health.
The formal agreements are the Environmental Health Services Delegation Agreement and the
Non - Community Water Supplies Delegation Agreement. Each of these agreements are more
than 2 (two) decades old; having been signed in 1987. All agencies wishing to continue
providing delegated services must sign the new agreement(s) by June 30, 2010.
In this workshop, the Health Officer, Molly Wellens, will review what each of these programs
entails and highlight changes in each of the new agreements.
