Antonen, City Manager FROM: Chuck Ahl, Assistant City Manager Sarah Burlingame, Senior Administrative Assistant DATE: January 4, 2010 RE: Commission and Board Interviews for Reappointment INTRODUCTION The City Council will be conducting interviews of candidates for re- appointments to the Community Design Review Board, Park & Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, Police & Civil Service Commission, and Environmental & Natural Resources Commission. The individuals listed below have applied for reappointment and must be interviewed by the City Council before the Council can reappoint them to a commission or board. SUMMARY City staff has provided the Council with the questions for the interview process under separate cover. These questions have been reviewed and revised by the current boards and commissions and tailored for interviewing applicants seeking reappointment. The current commissions and boards also created a set of questions for interviewing new applicants seeking to fill a vacancy for future use. It has been past practice for each Council Member to select one question related to the commission/board and ask the same question of each applicant applying for that commission/board. The commissions and boards being interviewed for are the Community Design Review Board, Park & Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, Police & Civil Service Commission, and Environmental & Natural Resources Commission. Antonen, City Manager FROM: Chuck Ahl, Assistant City Manager Sarah Burlingame, Senior Administrative Assistant DATE: January 5, 2014 RE: Business & Economic Development Commission (BEDC) Candidate Interview INTRODUCTION The City Council will be conducting interviews of candidates for the Business & Economic Development Commission (BEDC) on Thursday, January 14 th , during a special City Council Workshop. Staff received fifteen applications from interested individuals and has scheduled them for interviews with the City Council. However, one applicant, Marvin Koppen, will be out of town on the 14 th . Staff anticipates that the Council will have time to interview Mr. Koppen during tonight's workshop after the reappointment interviews have concluded. If time does not permit for Mr. Koppen's interview, it will be scheduled at another time. SUMMARY City staff has provided the Council with the questions for the interview process under separate cover. These questions have been reviewed by staff. It has been past practice for each Council Member to select one question related to the commission/board and ask the same question of each applicant applying for that commission/board. RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending that each Council Member select a question from the list provided to ask during the interview process. The same selected questions will also be used during the continuation of the BEDC interviews on Thursday, January 14 th .
