People are always complaining about Government functions but are not willing to do
anything about addressing issues in the community. I want to do not talk.!!

I performed similar duties in community planning when I was in the Air Force (See
Attachment)

Specific Experience that Relates to the City of Maplewood Planning Commission
United States Air Force Commissioned Officer (Captain) (1987-1992)
Contract Programmer and Design Engineer, 1987-1990
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the development and
approval of programming documents for preliminary evaluation of construction projects.
Conducted environmental and economic impact studies concerning $26 million in civil
engineering military construction (MILCON), minor construction, maintenance and repair,
military family housing (MFH), and nonappropriated fund contract projects. Projects
encompassed 247 base facilities, 304 housing units, and, 11,806 acres of land valued at
$96 million. Provided electrical and facility design for contract projects and design
support to project engineers. Developed facility sitings which encompassed studies for
aircraft clearances, sound level clearances, and explosive clear zones. Additionally,
provided electrical and facility designs for construction projects including design support to
project engineers.

Buried Communications Cable, Family Support Center Addition, Running Track
Construction, Golf Course Driving Range Construction, K-Span Facility Construction,

Directed new product development including modifications to current product lines, tested the
reliability of existing and new products, and analyzed customer issues.
• Led project for airflow blower unit addressing customer concerns of perceived lowered airflow.
Coordinated mechanical design and process engineering, conducted quality assurance testing,
and coordinated schedule with marketing, packaging and technical service team members in a
large multi-national manufacturing company. Product projected a sales increase of $400,000
per year.
• Negotiated with manufacturer a price reduction for the existing motor from $36 to $29 per unit

• Implemented a "3M 15% Time" project concept for a lower cost electric motor and simple
assembly with 3M filter media for a low cost retail respirator system. The initial concept and
prototypes resulted in nomination for the 3M Technical Circle of Excellence in the "Excellence
in Technical Championing" category.
• Served as the administrator for a product commercialization planning database for a respiratory
products division. Developed the project justification documents. Assigned database project
task to team members. Segmented the project objectives into manageable project phases.
• Defined motor configuration for respirator unit, conducted Nickel Metal Hydride battery testing
for optimum battery pack configuration, and designed motor regulating circuits for energy
consumption.
