HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-06-2006 CMWMINUTES CITY COUNCIL /MANAGER WORKSHOP Monday, November 06, 2006 Council Chambers, City Hall 5:00 p.m. I_ll CALL TO ORDER A workshop of the City Council was held in the Council Chambers, at City Hall, and was called to order at 5:00 P.M. by Mayor Longrie. B. ROLL CALL C. A Diana Longrie, Mayor Present Rebecca Cave Councilmember Present Erik Hjelle, Councilmember Present Kathleen Juenemann, Councilmember Present Will Rossbach, Councilmember Present APPROVAL OF AGENDA Mayor Longrie moved to approve the agenda as amended. D2. Wood Burning D3. City Manager Search D4. New Ordinances D5. South Leg Meeting D6. Met Council Grant Seconded by Councilmember Rossbach Ayes -All NEW BUSINESS Fire Department 2007 Budget Fire Chief Lukin provided an overview of the Fire Department organizational chart, history on the department and future objectives. Public Safety Dispatch — Councilmember Juenemann gave an update on the status of the dispatch center transition and the joint meetings held regarding all parties involved. 2. Wood Burning Councilmember Rossbach spoke regarding residents that have wood burning devices in their home and how it affects surrounding neighbors. Rossbach requested that staff look at developing an ordinance addressing the issues and possibly consider regulating standards for citizens that use wood burning devices City Council/Manager Workshop 11 -06 -06 for heating their homes. 3. City Manager Search Councilmember Rossbach requested information regarding the status of the City Manager Search. Mr. Copeland informed council that the issue will be on the November 13, 2006 agenda. 4. New Ordinances Councilmember Rossbach discussed proposed budgeted processes suggested by Councilmember Hjelle and also mentioned his continued interest in democratic governance which allows for public input during the budget process. 5. South Leg Meeting Mayor Longrie reminded residents of the south leg meeting being held at the Londin Lane Fire Station on November 9 The topic of the meeting will be moratoriums. 6. Met Council Grant Mayor Longrie informed the council that Met Council has informed the City that it is looking good for the city to receive a 1.8 million grant for the Phase I Gladstone Development process.
