INTRODUCTION
The City Council will be conducting interviews of candidates for the Business & Economic
Development Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, Housing and Redevelopment
Authority, Community Design Review Board, and the Heritage Preservation Commission. There
are a total of ten (10) openings: 1 seat on the Community Design Review Board; 3 seats on the
Heritage Preservation Commission; 1 seat on the Housing Redevelopment Authority. There is
also 1 seat openon the Business & Economic Development Commissionwhich wascreated by
a resignation, so the individual appointed to this commission would serve the remainder of that
term. There are also 4 seats on the Park & Recreation Commission, one of which is a vacancy
created by a resignation, therefore the individual assigned to that position will serve the
remainder of that term. The Parks & Recreation Commission has indicated that they would like
to see at least one individual appointed to the commission to have a background in community
wellness and/or public health. This is a preference and not a requirement but the City Council
should keep this in mind throughout that portion of the interviews.
Applicants who are seeking a new position have been allotted 15 minutes for their interview with
the City Council. Those seeking reappointment have been allotted 10 minutes, as they are more
familiar with the process. There are two (2) applicants who are seeking multiple positions; these
applicants have been allotted 20 minutes to interview with the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Council interview the candidatesas indicated in the schedule below.
The suggested questions will be submitted under separate cover to the Council. During the
interview process, Council Members should fill out their ballots. Once the Interviews have
concluded, Council Members should submit their ballots to staff, which will be tallied with the
